Effective Treatments for Therapy Clients with Autism Spectrum Disorders
in Clinical and Educational Settings
At the end of this seminar the participant will be able to:
- Identify the social and emotional difficulties that lead to mental health and behavioral concerns in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Describe the difficulties that youth and adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) may have monitoring and regulating their thoughts and feelings
- List strategies for developing rapport with clients with ASD
- Discuss how cognitive behavioral therapy can be adapted for individuals with ASDs
- Devise a plan for assessing an appropriate starting point in counseling
- Discuss two specific treatment interventions that can be implemented in school or clinical settings
