Birds and magical realism
Right now I've got two special interests. I love pets but can't have one, so I feed the birds. I've got two bird feeders, one for black sunflower seeds and one for nyjer seed, and a bird bath, close to the kitchen door. I live near Philadelphia, PA, in the U.S., and around here we get a pretty good variety of birds, some of them colorful. When I'm in the kitchen, since there are windows in an L shape facing south and east, it's like living in an aviary. I like that the birds are free, and I'm the one who has to be confined for them to come around, and I have to be pretty still and quiet, or they notice me and they fly away. I've put out a floral hanging basket in hopes of attracting hummingbirds, but I haven't seen any yet. I guess this officially makes me a Bird Lady!
I'm writing a fictional magical realism story based strongly on abuse I went through from about 2006 to 2009, from house mates. I'm writing it for the catharsis, to purge myself of the anger and outrage at being powerless to move and powerless to stop the abuse. In the end I was able to make it stop, but it was a scary, intimidating process. But writing this story helps me process the anger.

I'd love to have a kitchen like yours!!
(hope your writing goes well - good to purge those kinds of events from our life.)
