My name is Annette.  I'm in my mid-30s and was just diagnosed as having Asperger's Syndrome.  I've just told four people(including my husband) so far. Not sure how I feel about it.

It explains so many things that are quirky/eccentric about me, but yea.

So I found the network and thought I'd join and say hi.

Hi Annette, and welcome to AWN!

I remember when I was first diagnosed in my early 40's (I'm 48 now) and how the adjustment period was a bit awkward; however it answered all my quesrtions, and it was the best decision I made for myself. Diagnosis (to seek one, or not) is a personal choice, and is different for each person.

Glad you stopped by to say hello Smile.

It is really awkward.  I feel like wow..this is a big deal, but then I feel like why is this a big deal, it's not a big deal.  That whole rapid internal conversation, you know?

But it was nice to know that I'm not insane.  There's a reason for why I do things or why I feel the way I feel.

Finding out that there was a reason for the way I processed information, as well as my sensory challenges was huge for me!

It really has changed how I'm thinking about things that I do.
