I am so wanting to speak with another autistic woman about depression and autism.  I felt slightly better even writing about it.  http://www.eileenparker.com/2012/03/autism-depression/

With my work, I become so cut off from people that it has taken this depression to make me realize that I have to take care of myself not just work and work.

Have any of you experienced this?  I'd like to talk in this forum.

~ Eileen.

Definitely :\ I have depression also, and it's so hard to live with sometimes. For me, it helps to be around friends, including online friends, because when I'm lonely everything seems worse. What do you think helps you the most in coping with depression?

I struggle with depression also. I was just diagnosed with Asperger's last year and sensory issues this year, so still trying to figure out what's going on.

What has helped you?

I take Zoloft, an anti-depressant.  I've gotten back into doing art, and I am learning how to play a wooden flute.

I agree that online friends are a must.  I haven't been around online for a long time, yet it used to help so much.

Also, getting time alone once in a while is important for me since I live with and work with people.  It's exhausting.

I am also working on a book.  Yes, all that sounds like too much, but it feeds my mind, so I feel more relaxed.
